According to the foreign trade statistics of Malaysia, the export volume of ferro-silicon (Si: over 55%) in April 2015 was 3,143 tons, down by 48.0% from 6,042 tons in the prior month. The export to Taiwan increased, whereas the export to Netherlands decreased drastically, which led to the total export being down from the prior month. The monthly average export unit price in April was US$1,071 per ton, up by 2.2% from US$1,047 in the prior month. This also was largely due to the decreased export to Netherlands. For a reference, the cumulative total during January to April was 11,760 tons (0.4 tons in the year-earlier period), which was largely due to the increase in production of ferro-silicon by OM Sarawak. 72.5% of the total export was meant for Europe, and Fesi Sales SA which entered into a partnership agreement with this plant and had a sale right for 60,000 tons annually for Europe and North Africa is thought to have conducted a marketing mission energetically. |
