[ferro-alloys.com]The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) conducted the fourth leg in the series of consultation meetings with mining stakeholders, to come up with effective policy reforms in the industry.
On July 31, 2018, the fourth consultation meeting has become the venue for the stakeholders and the MGB to discuss the following topics: clarification on small-scale mining projects, lifting of moratorium on exploration permit covering metallic minerals, and updates on the no-go zone maps. It was followed by a report of mining companies on their revegetation and rehabilitation accomplishments.
Marcventures Mining and Development Corporation also reported on the contribution of the mining sector to the National Greening Program and bamboo reforestation.
The Bamboo Industry Development Program was also presented by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The event was graced by the presence of DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu, DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez, DENR Undersecretary for Climate Change Service and Mining Concerns Analiza R. Teh, DENR Assistant Secretary for Mining Concerns Ms. Nonita S. Caguioa, MGB Acting Director Wilfredo G. Moncano and other MGB officials and staff.
The event was held at La Breza Hotel in Quezon City.
