[Ferro-Alloys.com]It is reported that Turkey's exports of chrome ore during September 2012 were 110,861 tons, 84 tons less than 110,945 tons exported in August 2012. Although the exports to China continued to slide, the downward trend seen in August 2012 stopped thanks to the increases of the exports to Sweden and Belgium.
The continued downslide of the quantity shipped to China was because the Chinese domestic demand for ferrochrome stayed low due to the stainless steel production curtailment and the seasonal factor that September was the month just before the National Day Holidays (September 30th 2012 to October 7th 2012). The quayside stocks in China of chrome ore at the end of September was reportedly 2.800 million tons, a little up from 2.685 million tons as of end August 2012.
The aggregated exports during the eight months (January to August) in 2012 amounted to 1,618,620 tons, down by 2.7% YoY from the same period of 2011. Despite the recent slowdowns, the exports to China during the nine months (January to September) of 2012 hold 86% share in Turkey's total exports of chrome ore, and still higher than those in the same period of 2011. The reason of the small drop for the eight months compared to the same period of 2011 was basically because of the decline in the volume to Sweden and India.
