[Ferro-Alloys.comSpain's Council of Ministers agreed to extend the country's lockdown to midnight April 26 to fight the spread of Covid-19, with authorities easing restrictions for non-essential businesses while the domestic steel industry continues to operate at reduced rates, sources told Fastmarkets.

On Friday April 10, the lockdown in Spain was extended to April 26 included, discarding the original end date of April 12.

The authorities have eased the restrictions for non-essential industries - including one key steel-consuming sector, construction - that have been on complete lockdown for two weeks. Non-essential sectors started to resume activity on Tuesday April 14, however, this process was "chaotic," sources said, due to the lack of personal protection equipment (PPE) supplies.
