  On January 14, according to the data disclosed by the General Administration of customs, China's total imports of iron ore in 2020 reached 1.17 billion tons, an increase of 96.746 million tons or 9.5% over the same period last year.

  This exceeded the previous record of 1075 million tons in 2017.
 
  According to the statistics of the General Administration of customs, the corresponding amount of iron ore imported last year was 822.87 billion yuan, an increase of 17.4% over the same period last year, and also a record high.
 
  According to the data of China Iron and Steel Industry Association, the average import price of iron ore in 2020 is US $101.7/t, up 7.3% compared with us $94.8/t in 2019.
 
  Iron ore is an important raw material for iron and steel. More than 80% of the iron ore needed by the Chinese market depends on imports, with Australia and Brazil as the main importers. Iron ore imports from these two countries account for more than 60% and 20% of China's total imports respectively.
