In 2020, German crude steel production fell by 10% year-on-year to 35.66 million tons. German crude steel production fell for the third consecutive year and remained below the limit of 40 million tons, dropping to the lowest level since the 2009 crisis. In the fourth quarter of last year, crude steel production increased by 9% year-on-year.

In December last year, German pig iron production reached 2.23 million tons, an increase of 9.8%. In 2020, overall production fell by 12% year-on-year to 22.46 million tons.

In December last year, China's hot-rolled steel production increased by 15.7% to 2.63 million tons, while total output in 2020 fell by 9.8% to 30.95 million tons, both of which were compared with the same period of the previous year.
