According to MiningWeekly, Indonesia allow to export unprocessed ore.
In 2020, Indonesia announced that in order to stimulate the development of domestic high value-added refining industry, it will ban the export of raw ore before 2023, and only those companies whose smelting facilities can meet the requirements of construction schedule will be allowed to export.
The new regulations lift the ban on nickel ore export. In 2020, Indonesia banned the export of nickel ore in order to encourage foreign enterprises to help the government build an all nickel supply chain from mining to electric vehicle production.
The Indonesian government believes that if the enterprise completes 90% of the construction target within a specific time, it will be completed on schedule.
At present, mining companies are allowed to export even if they fail to complete the construction of their refineries on schedule, according to a document signed by energy department officials on March 12.
"Companies holding mining licenses for metal mineral production and operation and special mining licenses for metal production and operation can obtain export licenses even if they do not meet the requirements of at least 90% of the construction progress." The Department of energy said in the document.
However, the Ministry said it would impose an "administrative fine" of 20% of the export value on companies that failed to meet the schedule but had obtained export licenses.
"This export incentive policy does not exempt the company from its obligation to continue to build smelters in Indonesia," the Ministry said.
