Osaka based secondary alloyed aluminum maker, Daiki Aluminum Industry reduces the output by more than 12% in second half year to March 2009 compared with original plan. It is the first output reduction in 3 years after record production for 2 years in a row. The president Takaaki Yamamoto said the firm adjusts the production when Toyota Motor and other automakers reduce the automobile production under slow economy.

Japanese secondary alloyed aluminum industry renewed record production and sales in fiscal 2007 ended March 2008 under automobile production increase. However, activity of automobile industry started to slow in fiscal 2008 while lower priced aluminum import from China and South Korea impacts on the domestic market. Domestic alloy makers are forced to reduce the output.

Daiki Aluminum started the partial output reduction at plant in Ibaraki in August and September and at plant in Aichi in October. However, the firm decided companywide output reduction to meet slower demand. –Japan Metal Bulletin
