A 600,000-ton coal and 1.8-million-ton coal dressing project has recently gone into operation in Baicheng County in the Western part of Xinjiang Ugyur Autonomous Region in Northwest China, and it is expected to form an annual production capacity of 2 million tons of coke in 3-5 years.
Baicheng County will further construct the second phase project with an annual coal coking production capacity of 600,000 tons in 2009.
Meanwhile, Baicheng County will launch a series of projects, striving to be capable of producing 3 million tons of coal, 2 million tons of coke, 300,000 tons of methanol and 500,000 tons of cement in 3-5 years.
The county now has a proved coal reserve of more than 5.3 billion tons.
