China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) confirmed Wednesday to cancel the license management on export of steel products, effective as of January 1, 2009.
According to the newly released catalog under export license management, the category of metals and metalwork under export license management in 2009 no longer includes steel products.
This is another measure of China to drive growth of steel products and the whole steel industry after Chinese authorities abolished export tariff on steel products.
The current export license regulation on steels was implemented as of May 20, 2007 in a bid to curb surging export of steels and expanding trade surplus at that time.
The new circular also stipulates to remove license management on export quotas of silkworm and some silk.
