The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region saw a substantial on-year coal output increase of 32.3 percent to 511 million tons in January-October, and continues to be China's leading coal producer.
According to the regional government, Inner Mongolia has already achieved 2010's production target of 500 million tons.
Over recent years Inner Mongolia's coal output has grown fast, having jumped from 114.5 million tons in 2002 to 457 million tons in 2008. Further, nearly 60 percent of its coal output has been supplied to other provinces.
Inner Mongolia has China's largest proven coal reserve of 701.6 billion tons, and single pit production capacity has reached 790,000 tons/year.
