China Plans to Shut Down 2000 Coal Mines by 2015

The Chinese government has announced that it will no longer approve to construct any coal mine projects with annual capacity below 300,000 tons.

The coal mine projects with the annual capacity below 900,000 tons which face gas and coal outbursts will be also rejected by Chinese government too.

In order to reduce accidents and to increase safety in mining, China plans to shut down over 2000 small coal mines by the end of 2015.
