[Ferro-alloys.com] Si metal prices continued to keep stable and Metallurgical Si metal prices stopped declining in late August in China. Factories were dealing with previous orders. Chemical Si metal prices remained firm. It was benefited from better organosilicon trade.

Until now, quotations were as follows: Kunming delivered price for Si 553#, RMB12700-12,800/mt(USD2,062-2,078/mt) and Si441#, RMB13,100-13,200/mt(USD2,130-2,147/mt); Tianjin port price for Si421#, RMB14,100-14,200/mt(USD2,289-2,309/mt) and Si411#, RMB14,300-14,400/mt(USD2,322-2,342/mt); much higher prices of Si2202# and Si3303#.

Export market of Si metal: export prices kept steady in mid August 15, 2014. Si553# was USD2,000-2,030/mt, Si441# was 2,160-2,210/mt, Si421# was USD2,310-2,330/mt, Si 411# was USD2,330-2,350/mt, Si3,303# was USD2,320-2,340/mt and Si2,202# was USD2,500-2,550/mt FOB.

Western Si metal prices remained stable in late August. European Si 553# prices were EUR 2200-2250/mt; the US were 144-147cents/lb. Japan would begin to purchase Q4 Si metal. Some time ago Si metal prices in China kept declining and Japanese dealers were hesitating. But Si metal prices stayed stable now, which might accelerate Japanese dealers’ purchases.

Analysis: Si metal factories mainly dealt with old orders and their quotations remained stable. Japanese’s purchases would be advantage for Si metal export market. Si metals prices were likely to keep steady.
