[Ferro-alloys.com] Prices of Si metal suffered continuous decline from early July to early August in China and there were stable prices in late August in China. Although significant improvement of demand hadn’t occurred in the downstream industries, Si metal producers became optimistic about late market, as the downstream industries sort of picked up.

The silicone industry kept promising, the mainstream market prices of DMC (Dimethyl cyclosiloxane) were over RMB17,000/mt, up 5% from early July. The overall operation rate stayed at 60% in the silicon industry, with expectation of 70% in Q3, which would support the still firm prices of chemical grade Si metals.

Compared with the silicone industry, the aluminum alloy industry was inferior, but slight improvement appeared. The mainstream prices of ADC12 rose to RMB15,900-16,100/mt, RMB200/mt higher than late July. Supported by the price increases of downstream products, Si metal prices were expected to stabilize for a certain period in China.
