[Ferro-alloys.com]On September 1, International Ferro Metals Limited (IFL), a ferro-chrome producer in South Africa announced that the supply of UG2 chrome ore from Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) restarted and 20,000 tons was received in August.

Amplats reduced supply of UG2 chrome ore due to the prolonged strike which occurred this January and completely stopped supply during April to June. As the strike was called off in July and the operation of platinum mine and plant restarted, the supply of UG2 chrome ore was resumed in August. The backlog of the contract between both parties was about 94,000 tons as of the end of August, and IFL expects to have a monthly supply of 15,000 tons as an existing contract plus 5,000 tons as a backlog of the contract totalling 20,000 tons.

The cost of UG2 chrome ore is cheaper than chrome concentrates produced at its own mine, which is expected to drastically contribute to the revenue in the fiscal year 2015 beginning in July.
