Vale Q3 Coal Output Reached 1.7 MT

[Ferro-Alloys.com]In Q3 of 2012, Vale’s coal output reached 1.7 million tonne, 8.6% below the previous quarter mainly due to the slower pace of the ramp up of Moatize. The production of metallurgical coal totaled 1.2 million tonne an all time high for a Q3, while the output of thermal coal was 524,000 tonne.
 
Capacity at the Linha do Sena railway is expected to be expanded in 4Q12, as the enhancement in track signaling was completed, allowing for faster train speed and transportation of larger volumes of metallurgical coal production by year end.
