Vedanta Resources, an Indian private resource company, increased its ferrochrome production by 10% in fy2021-22 due to the improved operation and production efficiency of its ferrochrome plant.
From April 2021 to March 2022, the company produced about 75301 tons of ferrochrome, an increase of 10% over 68300 tons in the same period last year.
However, Vedanta said that from January to March this year, its ferrochrome and ore production decreased year-on-year, of which ferrochrome production decreased by 4% to 17700 tons compared with the same period last year, while chrome production decreased by 22% to 43400 tons.
Due to the decline in demand from stainless steel plants, the ex factory price of 60% grade high-carbon ferrochrome fell to 118000-120000 rupees per ton this week, lower than the 120000-125000 rupees per ton evaluated on March 31. However, the price was higher than INR 95000-96000 per ton on April 6, 2021.
